Making Amends: Salman Khan Wishes The Army Happy Diwali

Salman Khan was one of the loudest voices which spoke out in defense of Pakistani actors working in Bollywood when public sentiment and political voices demanded that they be banned from working in India. The conversation happened after 18 army men were killed by Pakistani infiltrants in Uri. So it was no wonder that Salman's statement was seen as anti-Army.

Though the actor went mum after the controversy, he now seems keen to make amends. Diwali may still be days away but Salman Khan posted a video on Facebook and dedicated it to the soldiers.

Earlier today, the Modi government launched a service through which citizens could send Diwali greetings to the soldiers posted on the borders. Soon Salman posted the video on Facebook, and added this message of his own: "My hearty greetings to the army soldiers and young people of the country. #SandeshToSoldier."

Interestingly, Salman Khan and father Salim Khan were among the big names in Bollywood which supported Narendra Modi's prime ministerial campaign but they found themselves on opposing sides during the recent Indo-Pak conversation.

Is this Facebook message an attempt to rectify the earlier faux pas and will it work? Let's wait and watch.
